So, I received a parking ticket 3 weeks ago for an expired meter. I am happy to pay it. When I logged online to pay my due, I had another ticket come up on my record from 11/27/2011 saying that I still owed $88 for parking in a red zone at LAX?

I did fly out of LAX over the holidays, but I definitely didn't drive (I never drive myself to the airport). I could've picked someone up from the airport perhaps, but I definately didn't park and I never received a ticket.

Any advice on how to handle? I'd almost rather just pay the $88 than go through a huge ordeal, but I know this isn't my ticket...

Thoughts?

I never got a Delinquent Parking Notice. Also, I was able to register my car and recieve my 2013 tabs no problem, in August, 2012. Would that be possible if I still owed a ticket from 2011?

I'm just confused. When I call the number, I can't get a human being on the phone either.

Does it show the issuing agency? LAX is not patrolled by LAPD (although LAPD does have some shared operations with LAXPD).

I don't think it says the agency... it says this:

Please select the items and fill in the amounts you wish to pay:
Ticket Number Issue Date ViolationLocation Amount Amount Paid
1100466323 11/28/2011 RED CURB 500 WORLD WAY U/L $88.00 $Total Payment Including Processing Fees: $90

99% guess thats a LAXPD cite. Small department, you can try calling them directly for clarification. 424-646-6100

I do NOT believe the website above will allow you to contest a LAX citation, although there would some chatter awhile back about combining the LAPD and LAXPD citation processes (they would remain separate departments, though).

Good luck.

Thank you 1200RT! I called the number, the guy was confused, but confessed that LAPD hardly ever issues tickets. He's digging up the old ticket books to see if he has any record of it... stay tuned.

Update: Airport traffic control has no record of the ticket.

LAPD is the next option. Is it worth writing a letter and doing all this court crap, or should I just pay it?

Personally, I would just pay it.

But, you'll get the rest of the C-D'ers come out of the wood work who will say thats an awful idea, take it to court, fight it all the way up to the supreme court, ask for a jury trial, get a private investigator, take finger prints, subpoena every officer working that day, lie detector witnesses, etc etc, until the truth comes out.

$90 is worth about 15 minutes to me. If I thought I could clear it up in 15 minutes or less, I would fight it.

I agree with you. However, I've apparently had it for almost a year and have never encountered a problem with it. I updated my tabs just fine and have never gotten anything in the mail. I'm thinking about just ignoring it and if it ever comes up, then fighting it.
