Most of the best places I've been to have been in East Hollywood, DTLA, Silverlake, Echo Park, NoHo, Melrose and they're much better hot spots to lay back or dance than anything I've been to in the West. By 1:30am they're already kicking people out the door. What gives?

So it's got star power? That's why it's more well known and showcased. So many out in the West, especially the transplants, have never even heard of the places I've been too and they've been here longer than I have.

What is the aversion these two sides if the city have against each other? How can there literally be two LAs? How is the "poorer" side so much hipper, better and more of a riot?

That's almost unlike any other city.

For native Angelinos, West LA doesn't even register a blip except for those that already live there. Most people in LA/OC actively avoid the westside.

I think it's blown way out of proportion. I have friends in both areas, and it's not like they don't like one side or the other. Although there are some that actively avoid anything east and those tend to be more recent transplants than natives. It's more of a "takes too long to get there" deal for most. I personally prefer central/hollywood/koreatown and downtown because that's what I'm closer to and most of "our hangouts" are located but occasionally do go hangout on the westside as well.

I dont think west la gets all the attention. whenever i watch the news, they are talking about wind in Granada hills, the grapevine, or some other place at the edge of LA county. Rarely do I see a news caster standing in west la talking about the rain, the heat, the wind etc.

West la is getting more and more populated and people hang around where they live for the most part. I certainly dont "avoid" places, but those places I generally dont go to are due to a matter of traffic inconvenience... The traffic in west la/santa monica is from people who "dont live there" and are commuting east or north.

Basically. West LA is for tourists and transplants, among other things.

It might be a mix of things being too far or the difference in tastes or the huge divide in wealth too but at the same time the West does kinda suck. It's over priced, overly trendy like hell, I mean over the top and living off a reputation thats not real.

What kind of bars starting rounding people out by 1:45?

East and Central LA are where it's at plus Pasadena abd the Valley. I've had more genuine fun in Sherman Oaks and NoHo.

But these places hardly seemed touched. What I mean is that it seems ppl have to discover what's East of Hollywod. It's not showcased in any films or TV.

Umm, bars and clubs.. whether its santa monica or east hollywood.. have to round out people by 145. Last call. You can't sell alcohol in california between 2 and 6 am. If you're at a place open past 2, they have a special afterhours permit which I find pointless unless you're at some ecstasy dance party. If you can't drink, why stay?

You're a little different. it's a matter of opinion. I'd rather be at some conventional bar or club and drink till 145, then go home. Only with special drugs can you really stay up past 2 am

Everywhere it's last call at 1:45, I know. The point is that I've been to two bars where they're kicking people out or rounding them out of the patios by this time. Not just telling them its last call. I've been to bars outside of the West where people linger til 2:15. A bouncer at a famous West LA bar told me The West is notorious for this and he drinks elsewhere.

So only druggies stay up past 2am? What kind of junk talk is that?
