Just started a job located at Santa Monica BLVD and Sepulveda off the 405. I love the Belmont Shore area and I am thinking about moving there. My boyfriend currently lives in Belmont Shore and we love the neighborhood. Other possible option is the southbay - Manhattan or Redondo. Anyone have thoughts on the commute and schools in both areas? I have a 3 yr old daughter. Thanks!

The commute northward from LB is just plain awful. I have friends who do it and using all sorts of shortcuts through Sepulveda/Lincoln and you're still looking at stop-n-go traffic. You've got a young toddler so mommy time is probably your number one priority. You don't want to waste an hour & a half in the evening commuting. If you're working in WLA i'd suggest Culver City, Playa del Rey or Westchester. I wouldn't go farther south than LAX.

i commuted a few times from belmont shore when my wife used to live there before we were married. you have to be on the road before 6 to not sit in stop and go traffic the entire way. i lived on the westside at the time and would wake up at 5:30, drive home, then try to get some extra sleep before heading into the office. getting to west LA from anywhere not on the westside is a serious chore.
