Born and raised in the Valley... my grandparents were born and raised in East LA. Live in West LA now. This city is the best and worst in the world, but I wouldn't live anywhere else. Any time I hear people gripe about how horrible Los Angeles is, I want to tell them, "Good - so leave. More housing for me." Most of them aren't from here anyway. Meh. The great irony is that most of the pretentious "biz people" who give LA a bad name aren't even FROM LA; they just come here looking to break into "the biz" and then gripe about how pretentious LA is, when in fact they're pretty much only interacting with other people in the same boat. Puhleeze.

We could do with some better public transit, though. Anybody for a cable-car revival?

Great first post. Welcome to the CD Los Angeles family.

About the biz people. I hate when people do that. They think "OMG! I'm gonna go to Hollwyood and be a movie star!!!!" Yeah, well it's not gonna happen and don't blame LA when it was your stupid fault to come out here and not be able to afford anything.

I was born and raised here, but I dont plan on living here forever. It could be the lack of money and the high "COL" that makes me not like Los Angeles. It could be the immigration and high hispanic population that continues to make me feel as if I have moved already - to Tijuana. It could be a lot of things. I hesistate to completely bad mouth Los Angeles or even Southern California as a whole because if I had more wealth and free time I would probably enjoy myself somewhat, or not.
I've enjoyed my time in other South West states, even though it was vacation, but I can see myself living there in the near future, away from California and it's funny LAPD, "Ahnold", wacky CCW laws and other things I disagree with.
Just my opinion though, it's my life right? =D

We can't do it. It might affect my GM dividends. Can't do it.

Hrm. I'd suggest we build a more expansive subway system, but can you imagine the earthquake insurance premiums they'd have to pay? Plus... I saw that disaster movie; no thanks...

I don't plan to die in LA; it defeats the point of living here.

You can write the first check.

That's the problem.

Just about any problem can be solved.

You want it Correct? Inexpensive? Fast? Pick any two.

If it's correct and inexpensive it won't be fast.
