I'm just curious if the LA Zoo was a good experience for any of you guys and if it's fun to visit.

The San Diego zoo was amazing and I'm hoping the LA zoo is similar or close to that.

Thanks

the LA Zoo is great it has many animals and many different species, LA zoo is 113 acres, 1100+ animals and 250+ species, LA zoo has arguably some of the best exhibits of zoo's in the US, like Campo Gorilla

i've never been to the LA zoo, but everyone i know who's been says the same thing: "it was okay". these responses have not provided the motivation i need to get over there and check it out. i did hear that they do offer special prices for annual passes if you are impressed with the zoo.

I've been a few times. I really like the LA Zoo. Obviously, not as big as the San Diego Zoo, but there is plently to see and they usually have a lot of fun extras going on there.

If you have small kids, the Santa Barbara Zoo is a great alternative. Smaller, less crowded, relaxed.

Surprising for L.A, the Zoo is actually really great. They have been renovating it constantly for the past ten years, so there are tons of new exhibits everywhere you go.

The last time I went to the LA zoo was about 20 years ago. I was totally bored. It was almost as bad as the Santa Ana Zoo. If you want to go to the zoo, skip LA and head to the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It's by far the best around.

I like the LA Zoo, then again, I've never been to the San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park -- but LA Zoo does blow Seattle's and Denver's zoos away.

The LA Zoo is pretty good, but no where as good as the San Diego one.

I always get kind of exhausted walking around (often in full sun, up hills) looking at animals not doing much of anything when I'm at the LA Zoo. The other thing I don't like about it is in from of almost all of the habitats, there are fairly high (3' maybe? 3.5'?) bushes. I have a 2 year old, and she's not tall enough to see over them. ESPECIALLY when she's in her stroller. So, the zoo experience, thus far, has been pretty boring for her, too.

There's a merry-go-round (for a little extra $$) that we discovered the last time we were there, and we LOVED that.

If you're into zoos, you'll probably like it. It's definitely one of the better ones I've been to. I have an annual pass (thanks Groupon!) so we go quite a bit. I don't love it but I don't hate it, either.
