I have never done this commute before. My shift will be regular 9am-5pm, but I have the flexibility of changing it perhaps from 11am-8pm. Will this make the commute any better? How long would my commute take approximately?

MP to cedars is the 60 to the 10 or the 10 all the way through. it might be bad the closer the westside you get or it could be bad all the way around. its just best to drive it beforehand to see how long or how short it takes.

I've done the drive from Pasadena to Cedars many times (110 to 10) and between 6 a.m.-10 a.m., getting onto the 10 and off the exit (mine was La Cienega and/or Robertson, depending on the exact building) was the WORST. I've spent as much as 2 hrs in traffic each way.

Taking that into consideration, and if you have an option to take the 11-8 shift, do that instead. You'll miss the bulk of the rush hour traffic and save yourself a lot of time and frustration.

I would try avoiding the La Cienega traffic nightmare by getting off the 110 at Pico and then taking San Vicente. This may or may not work depending on the time of day and your tolerance for L.A. urban neighborhood driving.
