Oops...let me correct myself...I see that the average income is also listed. I have read articles like this and basically the idea is, it's not just the cost of the home, it's the fact that the income is not commensurately high enough. But as I said, after I typed my initial post I saw that the income was listed after all.

This is a very VERY important point for people to consider before moving here. So this was a good post...thanks, Puffle.

The sad thing is, $589,900 may not even buy you a tear-down in the nicer, safe parts of town. The entry there is in the $600s or, more realistically, the $700s. So, bad as these articles make it out to be, reality is even worse!

If a huge number of people leave the home prices will decrease. I'm not against people moving out.

The scenario NDA is talking about is one I have always wanted...but unfortunately what is suggested (naturally) is not going to happen any time soon. A great many folks from all over...folks with top dollar want to be in California or So. California.

I wish I had the income to have stayed in Los Angeles. I have never lived any where else...but for me, it was time to go.

I now live in Indiana. It is affordable. Not my final destination...but affordable till I can get on my feet again.

Case in point: my single/studio apt. in L.A. cost roughly $900 per month; here in Indianapolis it is $450. Granted, the wage thing bites and the city itself is dead in comparison - but all of this I knew coming here.

Exclusivity.

San Diego would be #1 if they had the high paying film/tv industry that LA has...

Puffle: Thanks for the information, funny thing is I'm way above the median household income as a single earner and I still can't afford to live in SoCal, even though born and raised here. As you know heading to MA, with a large pay raise. So I should do really well in MA, even if the cost of living is only slightly less.

Anything new on the moving front??

Best Wishes to you Puffle !!

Dusty I totally understand how you feel I live in Cinti (BORING) and yes the cost of living isn't that bad I mean a single person can survive off of making only $12 an hour...in Calif you have to make at least $25 an hour
