im from puerto rico and i want to move to california. i just want to go there but i dont know too much about that state. i have a question im 20 years old im moving just by myself with my girlfriend how can i rent an apartment being underage?

20 is old enough, bring a lot of cash.

You should consider some states further inland or possibly north. California is really expensive to be alone. One bedroom apartments are near 1000 dollars even in bad places. You can more easily do this in New Mexico or Utah.

You are over 18 so you can contract for an apartment. Your credit score and previous rental history will be more likely to hold you back. A lot of cash, several thousand dollars, will help you get into an apartment. But then, you will have to figure out how to pay the monthly rent to stay there. Good luck.

You shoul be fine if you have a valid work/school (J-1, F-1) Visa. Most landlords won't rent to someone on a visitor's Visa. Make sure you have cash for a two month's rent security deposit, plus first month's rent. This will most likely what's due to move in. In addition, I would recommend having another 3-6 month's of rent in savings.

Ummm, Puerto Ricans don't need Visas. They are Americans.
