I LOVE living in DTLA. I agree that a lot of the flack I get for living here comes from people who never venture down here or are still stuck in the 90s Downtown LA. Living down here you definitely see who Downtown is being catered to. All these new businesses popping up. The restaurants, the bars, the specialty markets, the pet food stores. All signs point to this area moving drastically in a different direction. I'm glad I'm here to watch the wave. I live off of Main and it's a great location. I can walk everywhere. Yesterday I walked over the Music Center for Samba night. Last Friday I was at Pershing Square watching E.T. in the park over a blanket and vodka. Artwalk is....meh. Sundays I like going to Spring Street bar for an afternoon beer with a friend. There's always something to do. And I swear businesses are moving in every week. Just today I took a stroll down Spring from 4th to 5th and was surprised to see two or three new store fronts...look like art galleries perhaps.

I've even come to tolerate the Stray Cat Cafe (still bummed about The Must moving) and their waiters with their Stray Cat hats. It's a definitely a cool place to live. And dare I say I like a little grime. The Downtown LA Pirate, the folk that hang out in front of the SRO building and the guy with the parrot on his shoulder....are all harmless.

If you feel adventurous go to King Eddy's. I know, it looks REAL shady. But once inside you'll find it's a warm, friendly locals spot. Sadly, I've noticed more and more "hipsters" trickling in there....
