Does anyone know of any cheap housing in the downtown area? I'm open to anything but I love the downtown area the most and would love to live there. Don't have a ton of money right now or a high paying job but I wondered if there was anything that I could possibly afford to live in (under $700/month let's say but cheaper is best). I don't mind sharing a place or living in a not so nice place (within reason). I do have a car so getting around isn't a problem.

Craigslist is full of places as long as your willing to have roommates. Do search for downtown in the los angeles craigslist with a min of 500 and a max of 700. Good luck.

Is Downtown a good area to move to?
I've been offered a chance to transfer my job from London to Downtown and want to know if living/working there is doable? What do you think?

You can try the Hotel Bristol Apartments (AKA Bristol Hotel) in downtown LA:

While LA is no London the downtown area is very livable/workable these days; it just depends on your lifestyle. You can buy or rent (may want to rent until you're sure about downtown) and the sky's the limit on both for costs.

Summer 2009 I looked at a TINY studio apt (called a "micro-loft") for around $450-500. Would be like living in a closet. Not sure what the availability is now.

Didn't the Frontier Hotel get a major remodel a few years ago?
