Any suggestions on the best routes to take from North East Glendale to the LAX Aiport and Malibu? I will be going to Malibu on Sunday or Monday, and LAX on Tuesday but around 11 PM at night.

Thanks for your help!

To Malibu Take 134 west (which turns into 101 west, [north]) to either Topanga Canyon or Malibu Canyon or Kanan Dume and head south.

To LAX Take 134 west (which turns into 101 west, [north]) to 405 south to Howard Hugues or La Tijera or Century Blvd. You could also take the Glendale Freeway highway 2 and make your way to the 10 west. Either way should be OK at 11PM. Personally, I'd take the 405 though.

if you're carpooling then take the 110 and 105 to LAX. the 101 doesn't have any carpool lanes and the 405's suck ass.

He's going to LAX at 11pm, he doesn't need to carpool.

Also, at 11PM, I wouldn't want to be on the 110 or the 105 when my car breaks down. Kind of a rough neighborhood.

5 south to 110 south to 105 west. You'll fly at 11pm unless it's Friday then you may have some stop and go downtown at the interchange but nothing serious. This is the way I went when I lived in Glendale.

Then

405 north to 10 west to PCH north to Malibu.

While the 110/105 route is four miles shorter and ten minutes faster (by Google Maps - and you can now drag alternative routes on Google Maps - cool tool feature), I think it is riskier for traffic (even at 11PM) and safety. At 11 PM I'd rather have a flat in Burbank, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Sep Pass, West LA, or Mar Vista than in downtown, south central, or Hawthorne.

Let's reconsider Glendale to Malibu. It's 10 AM, I'm in Glendale and I want to go to Malibu. Got my ice chest, beach chairs, camera, flip-flops, boogie board, and towels. So I take 134 to 101 and approach the 405. I'm at 101/405 and see traffic crawling up the Sep pass. No way I take 405 south. I zoom west on 101 and take a beautiful drive through Topanga or Malibu or Kanan Canyons.

He didn't ask about 10am. I don't get the comment about safety. It's the freeway.
