i'm moving to LA i like surfing and hiking ,any neighborhoods that are nice to live in that would'nt be to far from beaches. i like to see alot of grass and trees in my neighborhood like the suburbs, but don't want a long commute to beaches. and don't want to have to pay $$$$$$$$ for a rental! thanks

Lakewood, Cerritos or Bellflower is a 15 minute drive to the beach.

there are also some decent priced/areas in Torrance, El Segundo leaving you close to most of the beaches in the South Bay area.

+1 for Santa Monica. If it's not in your budget, check out Culver City. Much more affordable and a quick commute to the beach.
