I have been in my apartment for 18 months now. While living here, I have seen two managers go - currently with the third one. For some reason, I am having issues with my apt manager.

My bathroom window cracked and I reported it (filled out a request form). No biggie, right? Well, I get a call from (let's call him John) John and he implies maybe I broke it by accident or my boyfriend did and did not say anything to me. Basically he is trying to get me to admit to something that was not my fault so he won't have to fix it. After that, he tells me "we will look into it".....for 3 weeks. I called him every week and nothing.

During this time, he would see me in the complex and give me very hostile and uncomfortable stares. After the third week, I put in a second request (this time a work request online) and within four days, it was fixed! I wonder if the company who owns the complex gets a copy. Anyways, now everytime he sees me, like I stated earlier, he is very hostile. He doesn't say anything or make any moves towards me but it is still very uncomfortable.

I feel this is enough for me to move out. I am on month-to-month but cannot move until June. I am concerned he will retaliate when I move and demolish my deposit. I want to report his behavior but I would have to deal with it for another 4 months. What do I do?

1) When you move out, clean that apartment from floor to ceiling, including places you might not consider trouble spots (e.g. some landlords check for dust on top of the fridge). Document this with photos showing the date.

2) KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Go to this webpage and read everything that is applicable to your situation. If your property manager ends up stiffing you on the deposit, write him a demand letter (if you can't afford a lawyer, try calling Legal Aid to see if you qualify for help). If he still doesn't give you the money you're owed, go to small claims court.
