Culver City is a nice area where the residents awake each morning, face west and say, "Thank you, Sony". The Sony Studios breathed alot of life back into Culver City and there are now many nice shops & restaurants in it's revitalized "downtown" area. It is well located with good access via streets to many areas and it isn't far from freeways for longer commutes. Check out the Arts District south of the Helms Bakery area. It's a bit more trendy & upscale. I like Culver City, good choice.

Mike

No.

There are some very nice, and some not-so-great areas in CC.

I would stay put unless you've got a job lined up, as suggested to you in your other threads.

I know people with MBA's that can't get jobs [appropriate for their education level] right now.

Ok ... in that case:

CC is nice. They have their own PD/FD, which are both reasonably professional. Its centrally located to most of West LA. There are funky areas, and very nice areas. Expect to pay between $950 to $1300 for a one bedroom. Studio apartments in the $800-$900 range.

Single family homes will be $500k-$1M, with nicer stuff being $600k+ ... Condos will be just shy of $300k and on up.

Culver City is nicely situated between/surrounding the 10 and 405 freeways, so is well accessible for commuting.

there's a big mosque in culver city and i've driven by it more times than I can count in the last couple of years. to be honest, i've never really seen anybody around there. i guess i don't go by when people are there for prayer/services. the 7-11 across the street always seems more crowded.

culver city is awesome. and i would not expect for you to be able to get a job at sony, because you have many locals and natives vying for the same position. please be aware that we are sort of in a recession- expect to go jobless for up to six months or a year, maybe more. i have been unemployed for almost two years.
