Hey everyone,

I don't know if anyone remembers me from last year - early this year, but I was a 20 year old guy who was torn between coming to LA for acting or going to law school.

I am now 21 and have made a decision that will work great for me (hopefully). I am now enrolled at Ryerson University in Toronto studying Radio and Television Arts. It will give me the oppurtunity to do what I know I can't live without, and that is be in the entertainment industry.

However, my lust for the city is still not gone, and as such I am coming down to LA, Burbank, Anaheim, Studio City, Beverly Hills vicinity this winter break to enjoy and see the city once again. I just wanted to know what are some hot spots that I should be visiting. My last time consisted of regular tourist sites, Disney Land or World (not sure which ..), Warner Bros. Tour, and restaurants pretty much PG-13.

Now I am coming down with some friends and we want to hit up some nice coffee shops, restaurants, stores, clubs etc. I just wanted to know some great places to visit. I like great food, price for dinner should be $20-40 per person nothing fancy. I just want to come down and unwind so just let me know what you think are some great areas.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your responses!

Haha, trust me I was VERY indecisive for a good 3 months. In the end I realized that Ryerson graduates have a very high employment rate and decided to get that degree as my fall back

You should definitely hit up LA LIVE. I believe that is downtown. There is lots of different venues and restaurants there. Definitely try the Arclight movie theaters. There's one in Hollywood on Sunset Blvd and the other is in Sherman Oaks. Very high class and quality theater. Way better than Graumans. They have restaurants inside in addition to bars. Seats are grade-A top notch and picture is HD. Hit up Venice Beach/Venice Blvd of course. If it's too crowded and touristy for you, I suggest Zuma Beach in Malibu. Most active days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Check out Long Beach. If you have a taste for seafood, I would check out the boardwalk in Redondo. So many great seafood choices. For authentic asian food, hit up one of the countless Asian restuarants in Monterey Park. Great way to meet Asians. Eat at Pinks or Pinkberry or In and Out burger-In and Out has really good chesseburgers. There's also the Farmers Market at the Grove. Go to Charley’s Café in the Farmer’s Market. Reasonable food at a reasonable price. You should definitely hit some amusement parks. Knoxbury Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain. Go to the Getty Villa in Malibu. Try Huntington Beach Surfing and Surf Museum. If you like basketball see the Lakers at the Staples arena. You'll want to go river walking at the L.A. River Gardens. If you like animals, try the Los Angeles zoo. If you like racing, hit up the Hollywood Park race track. I can't think of anymore but these are plenty of great choices for your trip!

Wow, great response Allen, those are all things I would love to experience. I love burgers but we don't have very many good burger joints in Toronto and I am totally psyched to try an in -and-out burger!

Oh - and if you're on the westside ... don't forget about the "flannel cakes" at Nibblers!
