Hi everyone!

I'm in really sad spirits this evening. I moved into a new apartment with a great new roommate a month ago. I've been working for a writer as a personal assistant and although things have been tight this month, I knew I could make it work because I was getting paid.
However...it's my first paycheck, I'm owed $250, and the check hasn't showed up. She supposedly put it in the mail last week. I tried to call/email her but she has gone missing. So now I am $250 short for rent.
From the advice other people have given me, as it's my first month here the landlord would not be understanding. I think the only thing I can do is tell my roommate I need to move out, pay her as much as have and tell her I'll give the rest at the end of this month (I have a new, legit job lined up to start in a few days). I don't know how I can make this situation any easier for my roommate (and therefore, me!) - does anyone have any advice?

If you are sure of the new job, maybe your roomate can come up with the funds temporarily and let this be a hard lesson: Make certain you know who you are working for and make sure the company is solid. Peaple are right, your landlord will not have any sympathy and I can understand why.

good luck!!

Nita

Thanks, I don't want to ask her outright but if she suggests it that would be great - I guess it's up to her what is easiest for her, finding a new roommate or paying an extra $250.
