Hi All,

I just interviewed for a position in South Gate. If it comes down to a job offer I may need to move. I currently live in Glendora, and I think that might be a horrible commute. What communities would be good for me to live in? I won't be making bank (it is a staff accountant position), but I don't want to live in the ghetto either!! Would South Pasadena off the 710 Fwy be suitable? (I am familiar with that neigborhood, but nothing south of there) Thanks

Lalena

It'll be a commute from anywhere nice, but I would definitely not choose to commute from Glendora everyday.

You really ought to give South Gate a chance before you rule it out completely. Life is just so much better when you don't commute a long distance every day, and the residential neighborhoods in South Gate aren't that bad.

But if South Gate is completely out of the question for your personal taste, I'd recommend checking out Whittier and La Mirada.

Parts of Long Beach are pretty nice. Theres some ok apartments and townhomes in Bixby Knolls which would not be far away. Its a nice little oasis, but you need to keep aware of your surroundings at the grocery store and so forth.

Lakewood is pretty nice too.

If you don't mind mostly latino neighborhoods, Downey is pretty nice in parts and South Gate itself is not bad in certain areas either. But if schools are a concern, Lakewood is probably best.

South Pasadena would not be a great commute, but not death either. Probably 45 minutes each way at rush hour.

Thanks for the input guys. Moving from a town like Glendora will be really hard. It's safe, quiet, close to the mountains and everyone is nice here. Schools are not important, but I do like family oriented communties. I'll check out the cities you all mentioned!
