Anything I need to know about parking at a Metro gold line parking lot? I have heard that some are free to park and some cost a fee.

Do you have to ride the metro to be able to park there? If it's free to park, how do they know your actually riding the line? Do you put a stub in your window or something? Or is this more like an "honor system" type of thing? How does it work?

Also, can you park in a metro lot over night???

specifically I'm talking about the Gold Line - Lincoln Heights/Cypress station.

Also, any opinions on this area? Good/Bad? Safe? Dangerous?

Thanks in advance
-J.

Good question. Wish I could help you since I ride the Gold Line but have never used the parking lots. Maybe someone from that part of Los Angeles will provide info. I do know that you can park overnight in the parking structure at Union Station.

It just takes a little bit of research, and yes, the parking is free there:
Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park
370 W Avenue 26, Los Angeles 90031
Free On-site Parking – 89 Spaces
Paid Reserved On-site Parking – 5 Spaces
10 Bike Rack Spaces

Here's a link of all Metro Gold Line parking information/bike spaces:
Metro Gold Line Stations for Pasadena California

Whether or not you have to show proof that you used the Metro in order to park there, I don't know, as I've never had to use the parking lot or structures. Easiest thing to do is call Metro and ask.

I can't speak for that area being safe or not though. I haven't been in that area to judge.

When I lived out there (it's been 12 years since I left), you didn't have to show any proof of riding the train, just park and go. I think no overnight parking was allowed, since the trains didn't (still don't) run all night, but other than that, there were no restrictions that I know of. This was just on the Blue and Green Lines, the Red Line (or what existed of it back then, which was basically today's Purple Line) didn't have parking, and the Gold Line wasn't built yet when I lived there.
