Meaning - Nassau & Suffolk.

I am fully area of the gentrification of Brooklyn and even freakin' Queens where I lived the past 15 years of my life. Long Island seems dead to me, or falling behind compared to other NYC suburbs.

What areas would you consider to be hip or gentrified?

LI does not have a specific hip/gentrified area. Maybe a few scattered places here and there. I guess you could possibly call the Hamptons in the summer a hip place.
I just never though of any one location or area in that way though. LI was always kinda scattered and unorganized.

Nothing in comparison to areas like Astoria or Williamsburg, but there aren't really any suburbs that fit that bill either. The closest I've actually seen is of all places, Patchogue with a few of the bars downtown.

On LI most young people are concerned with showing off how much money they have or how sexy they are. While many of the hipsters in Astoria and Williamsburg have money, it's considered un-cool to drive fancy cars and wear clothes that LOOK expensive, and wearing super low cut tops to show off your breast implants is frowned upon by the ladies.

Well, In jersey I would say: Monteclair, Hoboken, Red Bank, Long Branch,

In Weschester I would say Port Chester, Whiteplains is up and coming.

All those places are affordable and are going through a gentrification. There seems to be none on Long Island.

Well, I'm not talking about Hipsters. I hate hipsters. I'm talking about good, affordable restaurants with different foods - not just "Tony's Pizza" and a Subway sandwich place.
I'm talking about culture centers, independent movie theaters, coffee shops, museums, used book stores, boutiques - that sort of thing.

Long Beach, as previously mentioned. Perhaps also, Babylon Village?

well what makes them "hip" to you? If you're looking for something like Hoboken, you're not going to find it in LI or in any other suburb, and I'm not so sure how affordable it is. Red Bank and White Plains aren't exactly cheap either.

I would compare Long Beach to Hoboken...obv, minus the beach for 'Boken of course.
