This is ok, as we have twins and they bang on anything in sight. Noise masks the trouble they're making.

Thomas's Ham & Eggery Diner in Carle Place. There is always a line but the food is excellent and reasonably priced.

Once, at Denny's, I ordered a grilled cheese and they never took the plastic wrap off the cheese. It was one upstate off route 17 somewhere in the catskills.

Nobody can believe it when I tell this story, I bet the cooks were smoking something illegal that day.

really? How high class can some sausage and eggs get?

I've been to Dennys, IHOP, Perkins, and a bunch of other chains. They're all the same food... just different prices.

There's absolutely no similarity between Denny's and IHOP. None. We have both here where I live. Both places really suck, but I would go to a Denny's strictly for breakfast and only when I really am desperate for hash browns and/or when I want a Grand Slam breakfast. Their sausages SUCK.
IHOP, on the other hand, I'd rather STARVE then go near that dump. Seriously.
I understand why others may enjoy these places, but I do not. People that love IHOP are almost always people that enjoy sweets and fruity "breakfasts". I'm a meat and potatoes kinda guy.
I probably shouldn't have written this....I certainly don't want to offend people. I guess I did it because of my strong dislike for the two places. Sorry......

3rd vote for Maureen's Kitchen in Smithtown - it's very good.

I also like Family Diner in Centereach. It's a small place, sort of reminds me of a truck stop that you would see in a movie, but the food is good and inexpensive.

A good place a little closer to the Nassau/Suffolk border would be Glen's Dinette in Babylon - but it can be very hard to get a table.

Denny's is much better then IHOP but if you can find a Perkins; it's the best of the 3.They are all similiar kind of like Applebees,TGI Fridays, Houlihans.
