Hello,
I am looking at the VS/Gibson areas for a home and wanted to check if there any complaints regarding the LIRR re delays etc. I commute to city everyday and wanted to make sure my morning and evening commute would not be more trouble than it's worth. Any response will be appreciated, thanks!
I wouldn't say Gibson is any worse than other stations. The LIRR isn't so great, period. I am late to work virtually every other day. My boss is getting sick of it...and the prices are outrageous. So if you are asking if you will be delayed...probably....and not because you live in Gibson...b/c you ride the LIRR.

If you plan accordingly and don't take a train that's scheduled to arrive 5-10 minutes before your work day begins, you'll be fine. The Valley Stream station is one of the best that I've used because it's a main hub and the Long Beach and Far Rockaway lines both make stops there so the trains run frequently. Also, it's close to the city so the ride is shorter than most.
Parking is another story! No parking on the streets and you must have a permit to park in the lots. Even if you have a permit you're not guaranteed a spot and they fill up quick. There's also some metered spots that fill up quick.

Valley Stream and Gibson are not the same station. Gibson gets much less service as it is on the Far Rockaway Branch.
Thanks for clarifying the difference between Valley Stream and Gibson which I already knew. I was simply giving my input about Valley Stream. Looks like the poster was asking about either and/or both.

You're welcome, maybe the OP didn't and you weren't very clear in pointing that out.
