Both are excellent areas, Jericho's school district is regarded a little higher, but Syosset has a top tier district as well, can't go wrong with either one. You can probably get a slightly larger home in Syosset than you can in Jericho in the same price range (though not much larger), however the school taxes are a bit higher in Syosset. Between $1,200- $1,400 or so a year higher according to the mynassauproperty site (based off last year's numbers) in your price range (this year's numbers should be available within a couple days).
Two splits and a ranch- there's another ranch in Woodbury.
