I am familiar with Lindenhurst as I have cousins that live there. Are you looking on the water? Or inland? I think Lindenhurst and W Babylon towns have nice vs. not so nice sections.

Babylon has a nicer town. Charming, restaurants and that whole bit. I am told the schools are better there as well.

alot of my friends from massapequa now live in lindenhurst. its pretty good there.

they're pretty similar. I would go with the best possible house...and remember to stay away from Wyandanch.
