you are correct, but there is quite a stigma associated with Valley Stream nowadays and stigmas, however untrue, do affect home sales.
I do have to say that one of the high schools in VS deservedly has a bad rap. I know someone that teaches there and I have heard quite the stories. Most of the district is fine.
What is the "quite a stigma" about? Racism? Bigotry? Actually 24 is very white and is the "whitest" of VS's SDs, so that should not count against it. Everytime I notice a house up for sale with a sign in the window, the sign does not last too long, and new (white) people move in, so I don't see a problem with sales here from the typical LI'er's point of view.
You mean like promoting the stigma of Levittown (everyone who lives there is total "white trash")?
None of the high schools in VS approach anything like "inner city chaos" and deserves a bad rap. (Note: Some teachers are major whiners and would complain even if they had robots in class instead of individuals.)

Myself and I Love LI But had an ideological discussion about the quality of Valley Stream schools, and he had me totally overmatched with facts.
However, negative perceptions of VS Schools---whether they are accurate or not--have to play into what is happening.
To the extent that I Love LI But is correct I wish him luck in battling these perceptions.
Actually I am a she. I really shouldn't "battle" the negative perceptions because the people who have them are of a racist mindset, train their kids to hate and/or distrust anyone different from them, would not fit in, and for their own sake, would just not like living in a multicultural environment, so perhaps it is better to just let think this way. Frankly, we don't need people running around killing someone for their race like those boys from Patchogue a little while back did. When their kids get out of their all-white K-12 cocoon and have problems in real life associating with, working with, and cooperating with, non-whites out there in the real globalized environment of the 21st century because of the way they were raised, then their parents may realize they did their children a disservice.
