There are nice parts of Huntington Station - but if you can avoid it, I would suggest that you do so. I live in the area near the Big H shopping center and can tell you first hand that I would never, ever live there again. I never thought I'd know what a gun shot sounds like from a distance - but now I do.
Like one poster said, parts are nice - Maplewood is very nice - but you'd definitely want to drive around and see. The station is the only area I'd tell you to avoid blanketly - most others are just fine, and some are very, very nice.
