One of the ways of digging yourself out of a financial hole is to stop the madness cold and not continue to dig. As an attorney, I used to do a lot of real estate transactions. Like many others, I now realize what a mess we've been led into by a bunch of creative incentives. I fell into the trap myself and currently pay a big monthly nut on a house I barely can afford. I now earn a substantial part of my living from bankruptcy law as well as assisting people with modifying their mortgages. Fixing the rate, lowering the rate, putting the arrears on the back-end . . . If anyone needs the help, my office is in Massapequa. (516) 228-0033. Just say that you need to modify or work out your mortgage.

Perfect example that it's not only "uneducated" or low-income people are/were affected! Thanks for sharing.
Carl, I do some pro bono debt counseling for Family Service League (I'm also a CFP). I'd like to ask you a few questions and will call your office tomorrow. Hope that's ok - I'll use "City-Forum" as reference, so you know how I came to call...
