We are looking at buying a home in the Tree Section of S. Huntington. Can anybody provide info promoting the neighborhood? It looks rather nice. Anyone have anything negative to say about that section??

For those who may not be familiar with South Huntington:

South Huntington is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the central part of the Town of Huntington, in the northwest part of Suffolk County.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of South Huntington in the Town of Huntington is bordered on the north by the Hamlet of Huntington Station; on the east by the Hamlet of Dix Hills; on the south by the Hamlet of Dix Hills and the Hamlet of Melville; and, on the west by the Hamlet of West Hills.

South Huntington is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the hamlet name in their mailing address: places in the Hamlet of South Huntington have a "Huntington Station, NY 11746", "Dix Hills, NY 11746" and "Melville, NY 11747" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): https://www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Ill tellya a little about Huntington. Its a Hell hole. Huntington Station is infested & I mean OVER RUN with undocumented illegal aliens and welfare trash. It has some nice areas in close proximity to the cesspool area and the Town Board is totaly composed of liberal Democrats. Ohhh...Broad daylight prostitution is becoming a problem as well.

Dont believe me...come take a drive from Jericho Turnpike north along RT 110....by the time you hit the train tracks you will be aghast in total shock.

Im counting my days.

I know the tree section quite well. It is very close to Rt 110, directly across from Whitman Mall. It is a very nice working class neighborhood, nothing too fancy but nice and clean.

Well you're talking about Huntington Station, which is one of LI's worst ghettos. Its even worse than New Cassel!
I would never walk or drive down through that area!
But South Huntington around Walt Whitman Mall is lovely, very wooded and you have shopping and nice trails all within walking distance.
