Just had a thought about brides. Wondering how they are doing with their caterers in terms of refunds. Not normally the most congenial in terms of head count deviations, just thinking about how they Will address those requests.
Friends going to Europe that had travel insurance were essentially told to pound sand. Act of God and no refunds, so they are going to pursue it legally.

Any kind of catered event will be in the same boat. I just read where all the food for a Bat-Mitzva was repacked by the caterers for distribution to food banks/kitchens that a lot better use then throwing it out.

If they didn't get "cancel for any reason" insurance (which costs more) then they are SOL as the policies generally exclude pandemics, war, etc.
They should save the money they were going to spend on an attorney.
My husband's cousin postponed her wedding from this coming weekend. To the summer, I think.
Did they get their deposit back? There still is no guarantee that things will get better in the summer. For all we know it could get worse. If it were me I'd ask the catering call to give me my deposit back and I'll work out a date when this crisis is under control. These catering halls are making zero income and if they don't have solid financial backing they could be out of business when the dust settles.
