VS is NOT the same as ten twelve years ago. I moved here 12 years ago n when I was growing up I always wanted to live here, loved the pride in ownership , the lawns ,the people, the stores and the sense of community. Now everything has changed for the worse , the good people have been replaced with people that walk around with a sense of mistrust n don't even look at each other. VS was loaded with baby boomers n now when one of them die , their homes don't stay on the market for more then a week before their sold. And once sold a peice of community is gone. I've watched this town crumble under the loss of the boomers. If ur considering moving to valley stream just take a stroll down central ave north of merrick n if u fit in, then this is the town for u. As far as I'm concerned I want out n once my financial situation changes I'm out of this dump!! I'm broken hearted I loved this place.. I can't even have a conversation with my neighbors because I don't speak Arabic n most of them are Leary of us n won't even ingage. Bye bye Valley stream. I feel like I'm breaking up with a girl I love.!!!! Smh..
W/O immigration nobody would be able to sell a house on LI; having ready buyers for the Kool-aid is all part of the real estate (prices only go up) scam.
This is really funny because my parents were Russian-Jewish and as Brooklyn as they come. So a few years ago I got one of those DNA kits and it turns out that under the hood I'm mostly Syrian and Irish. What the fug? Am I now a part of the Arab population of Valley Stream? Whatevs.
Was shattered when my favorite halal placed closed down. Can the OP recommend a good one? These enterprising new people arriving upon our shores are buying our old tract houses. Bless 'em! I'm busting my butt and looking forward to selling for a high price, InShaAllah.

Mediocre food (that we already know how to make) and getting higher prices for mediocre homes. Certainly worth importing people that go right on public services and sometimes want to blow us up.
