We're 7 weeks in and not a peep from the town of north hempstead building department. Last known status is it's awaiting review (no one assigned yet).

Anyone with advice/tips on how to move the review process along quicker? Anyone have insight into what takes place during the review process (and how long that may take)?

Much appreciated.

I feel your pain, it took them exactly 3 months to get to our file and then they requested more info. It's my experience that once they open the file and everything is ok or you can submit what ever they require then they move along fast. We filed this past June and they opened the file in September. I don't think there's anyway to expedite the process.

I find it mind boggling how little visibility there is into the process. And you wonder why people want to circumvent the process. I would've willingly paid for a 3rd party architect to review the plans given how much $ im throwing away with 2 mortgages.

Yeah I've been paying 2 mortgages since June and I think we are in the final stage of getting the permits, maybe another week or so.

Good luck with yours.

Maybe slip them a little something extra for their time and diligence?
