Moving to Miller Place! Help! (Coram, Patchogue: home, school district, college)

Hi All,

Husband and I finally found a home that we love in Miller Place. It's on Independence Way.

I was curious about the area? The school district? Any important information to know. We are moving from Queens and I don't know much about suffolk county.

Good area, good schools. Pain in the butt to get to any major roadway.

Oh that's by the high school. Good schools. Not too bad to get to LIE. Take 83 to get to exit 63. What else do you need to know?

Just hoping you plan on working out this way too. That's a brutal commute if not.

If you consider a 20 minute drive "not too bad" then that is correct

Oh, it's certainly a 20 minute drive but 83 is a main road and traffic isn't that bad unless it's snowing hard. I'm not at all arguing that Miller Place is centrally located. But presumably the original poster knew that. I actually commuted to Penn from Coram and it was a long commute. I wouldn't suggest it for anyone.

Yeah, grew up in Coram and that is a nightmare commute

Actually I work in port Jeff and the husband works in Patchogue.

Every once in a while he has to go to the city but I was thinking I could just drop him at the to linking line.

I'm used to driving distances. Drove from queens to port Jeff for 2 years !
