I feel you can get the same effects working out for free at home so I dont feel theres a need for a gym and ppl's sweat grosses me out anyway. I would worry about the germs at a gym.

But, whatever. I'm entitled to my opinion
I'd like to see some people with college dorm rooms that can accommodate 300 to 500 pound deadlifts and squats.

That's fine. It's not for me.

The gym at college was free (thanks mom & dad!) but i had a bunch of my own things set up. Different size weights and a punching bag. I also didnt have a roommate.

what isn't fine is your inability to understand the VERY simply concept that while the gym might not make sense for you it makes a lot of sense for others. If you can't figure that out, then I question your ability to function as an adult.

I GET THAT. I still feel it's a waste - even if ppl ARE doing things they cant do at home. It's a waste - i can use my $$ for other things.

Sorry you cant figure out how to make use of smaller spaces properly. I was able to turn my dorm room into a mini gym and then use the free gym on campus for some other things if I wanted to.

I would not pay for a gym and instead i would put my $$ toward other things that I cant get for free.

My way isnt right, but it's what worked for me.

I agree with Jdawg8181 to a certain degree. For the level of my workout, I can do it at home. However, with three kids running around, I can't work out at my home. I need to get out of my house and dedicate that 30 mins to myself for working out. I got a rowing machine in basement. 5 mins into it, I heard my kids crying and screaming upstairs. I had to stop and check it out. Forget it. And by the time they go to sleep, I have to get ready for bed as well. Different lifestyles, that's it. Doing 100 situp and 20 push up (I am a female) is not helping me getting rid of my baby weight. Playing work out DVD at home after they sleep probably not a good option either cuz my house is tiny.

Well, apparently some don't realize that others have physical aspirations far different from theirs. Most people seeking a 300-plus pound bench press and/or a 400 to 600 pound deadlift and squat, or be or look like a bodybuilder, do not have the equipment and space in their own homes!
