So this is what i have learned from going solar...leasing doesnt pay. We went with Long Island Power Solutions in Islandia which is in our area and purchased our system. Purchasing these days is very affordable and increases the value of our home (which lets face it in todays market is a huge plus) With the lipa inventives (which continue to go down by the time we made up our mind it had dropped $500) and the government incentives we have over $12000 of our system being deducted from our total cost. You do have to finance the amount with No payment No interested financing if you want absolutely no out of pocket cost until you get it back in your tax check but still its worth it once the incentives are gone the same systems gonna cost me an extra 12k. Plus when im done paying the balance of my solar loan (which is cheaper then what i currently pay for electric) i wont have an electric bill anymore. Our sales girl Michele was very knowledgeable and not at all pushy and would return our calls same day....i waited days and would have to keep calling back when i was shopping other companies...so annoying. So far very happy with our decision.
hows the system and financials working out so far?
Responding to your post - my electric bill last month was the best ever - $5.45. Due to the brighter / longer days, the meter is rolling backwards and we are banking our electric power.
Between the Mrs watching TV and working on her laptop, also the son with online gaming. Think we are using more electricity then in previous years...lol.
You must have one 20 watt light bulb, and nothing else in that house. How is that possible?
The month before that was $76 so avg'd together it's about $66 actual and over 12 months it's *maybe* $100/mo. Maybe people are on balanced billing and see above $150 every month - I don't know. I'd like to know how it's possible people spend $200 a month myself. We don't use the dryer or the dry feature on the dishwasher - that's about the extent of our savings attempts.
I've shared this before... so you get an idea what costs the most...

Gas cooking? How many loads of laundry each week? Do you watch tv? Your $60 bill was my electric bill on my apartment in '99--and I had to go to a laundromat.

You must have a 1 bedroom cottage, and live in the dark. In all seriousness, don't let pseg change your meter. Its DEFINITELY broken.
Considering my listed kWh used is not that far off from our other house... I think it's fine. What was yours last two months each?
Thing about bigger houses... we are still living one floor at a time.
