My girlfriend and I would be interested in doing this and I'm curious if anyone else has done a short sale. What is everyone's experience with the short sale? I've been reading up on it and have seen both pros and cons of it.

Dont buy with someone you arent married to. If you break up it'll be very messy.

Seen it. Not wise.

And that's what supposedly created the short sale opportunity that my husband and I chased.

(By the way, we weren't married when we bought our eventual house, but did exchange vows less than 18 hours after closing )

For broad questions like this, use the real estate thread and look for posts that have already been created rather than starting your own. Especially when you are 2-3 years from actually looking for a house.

I would only advise it if you both have unlimited patience, time to close, and a cast iron stomach. Only the strong survive.

He has 2.5 - 3 years. One can only hope he has as much patience as the people who read his stupid threads.
