That's what I said. 2 months in FC is extremely fast in NY. Are you positive they weren't renting?
No they owned the house. They were told to get out in 90 days once they got the notice.I am sure there is more to this than I know. They could have been pending foreclosure for awhile now, I only found this out last week about the foreclosure. The sheriff told me that he evicted another family 2 days ago, house was paid off but they owed back takes for the last few years.

Ugh. Losing a house cause you don't pay your property taxes? Yikes. I think there's a lot more to your neighbors story than you know.
This is the ugly side of the unions. kicking ppl to the curb for nit being able to afford the extortion taxes. this family was probably jealous of the coppers and teacher's high salaries.

The not paying property taxes was another family that the sheriff told me he evicted. I'll assume the other family stopped paying both mortgage and taxes once he lost his business.
Wait a minute..... I thought when someone was evicted, their property had to be put in storage and you have a month to get it out? I know this person was foreclosed on but shouldn't their stuff have been put in a storage unit as well????
I haven't seen someone's stuff put out on the street in MANY years (at least 15-20 years!)

I think it's different in a foreclosure. You probably don't see many people who wait in their house till they are actually kicked to the curb. Nor do you see too many people in such dire straits with half a brain having another child when their oldest is 19, they've lost their business and their house is in foreclosure proceedings.
I'm sorry for these people but at what point do people start thinking more than 2 hours ahead in their lives?
I mean really, you lose your PAID OFF HOUSE to unpaid taxes? Only on LI would someone lose a probably half million dollar house to that. Probably because their family lives down the street and they couldn't bear not to see them.
