Hi all, I have posted here before re the best places to live for commuting purposes. My wife and I want to be relatively close to our parents (plainview, Melville, roslyn). We found a property that we really like in Melville where the taxes are more affordable than the other areas we have been looking. However, it seems that the house is in no mans land when it comes to finding the right train (the house is located by white post farms). Any suggestions for trains where I can find parking?
As far as cities in the Huntington area, you are correct in your observation that commuting via train is more difficult in Melville/ Dix Hills, but on the up side you are closer to highways.
Based on your other post, you may want To take a look at Greenlawn and the Harborfields school district as well. Many commuters with kids like it bc of the proximity to both the Greenlawn and Huntington stations, as well as the school district.
I would question the air quality and resale value of that location. White post farm is in the middle of rte 110,northern pkwy.and the LIE which all have constant traffic 24/7.JMHO

Since you're in Melville, you'll be a Town of Huntington resident, just drive North on Rt. 110 to the Huntington LIRR station. It's right on 110, as it heads north.
You could also go to the Cold Spring Harbor station via Sweet Hollow Rd - I've always preferred that station over Huntington, although in the Winter or inclement weather, parking in the garage at Huntington is much preferred

Where in Melville do you live?
