The application, submitted by Jul-Bet Enterprises, involves a 42,000 square foot plan that includes bistros, retail establishments and medical offices, which would be sited on Route 25 across from Cliff's Elbow Room.
In April, despite hours of public protest, the Riverhead town board voted to approve two controversial special use permits that would allow for bistros and professional offices at a proposed development in Jamesport.
"Save Main Road" is a group organized with a mission to preserve land and community character on a stretch of Route 25 from County Road 105 east to Laurel, to the Southold Town line.

Having seen the fiasco that arose from the Post Office project in Stony Brook, the land that was removed causing a hill to become unstable, the subsequent run off problems and recent run off remediation projects (installed 10 years after the damage was done) I have to agree that the "Save Main Road" group has some very valid concerns. While we can't tell landowners what they can/can't do with their property, we should be able to guide their project in such a way that it won't cause further environmental damage, will not overburden a small but heavily used road, and will complement the local architecture.

If you build in a developed area with an already decent amount of traffic then fine but when your sole purpose
is to execute a portion of land in a rural area thats another story.

There is a decent amount of traffic through this area and there are other businesses adjacent to this undeveloped acreage.
