You cannot feel the HEAT or HUMIDITY looking at pictures. You won't get eaten alive by BUGS looking at pictures.

Some day I WILL come back to NY.

I realize it is not for everyone.... The humidity just doesn't effect me the way the cold weather does. I love it down here and will not be moving back unless there is a major family emergency back in NY.

BTW, the for sale sign was there because we were looking at the house when the photo was taken.... now it's our home.

Nice digs Baylover!

I'm now looking forward to a beautiful fall where we'll be hitting the beach one more time, going to the amusement parks and getting ready for Halloween which is one big neighborhood party. This is the payback for hot summers.

My wife and I grew up in Oceanside/Long Beach/Island Park in the 60's. We lived in Los Angeles, Kansas City, Edison, NJ, Manhattan, New Orleans, and finally Raleigh, NC.

Raleigh normally has a moderate Southern climate. This august was an exception though.

The area is cosmopolitan not like many small southern towns. We have indoor crappers and don't all live in a doublewide.

Have been in Raleigh 18 years. Rent a 2BR 1,200SF flat for $815 + utilities (reasonable compared to LIPA).

You can get Nathan's franks and pizza from Brooklyn natives in Raleigh.

Downside is no real public transportation.

Not all LI natives will enjoy the south just as not all southerners will enjoy LI.

If you are interested, y'all come down for a visit.

I'll tell ya how I wuz born at the corner of toidy toid and toid in the terlit and loined how to moider the King's english in New Yawk!

Greetings to LI from an ex LI resident now an honorary Bubba and happy to be one.
