I'm wondering if anyone can think of any managed apartment complexes on Long Island (that aren't 55 and older). I'm not looking to rent right away but I'm still curious. My boyfriend and I are thinking about moving in with each other when I move back for college and we'd rather not live in someones house. I know there's the Avalon Commons in Smithtown but it's a bit too far out east for me right now.

There's an Avalon in Melville. Also Fairfield in Commack.
There are quite a few of them. Just be aware that most of your security deposit is theres the minute you hand it over. Most of these places nickel and dime you when you move out.

Thanks, can you name a few of the apartments you know of? I'm having a hard time finding them by googling. All I can find are rooms for rent in someones house.

Honestly I haven't seen very many out there...at least not ones that can be considered anything close to "luxury". Some that come to mind at Avalon (Glen Cove, Melville, Coram etc), Archstone (Westbury)...and then there are the not-so-luxury ones...Eagle Rock apartments (used to be Fairhaven), Fairfield Properties...
Good luck, we couldn't find anything worthwhile out here in Nassau...either too pricey or plain yuck.

Look up Fairfield and Heatherwood properties, in addition to Avalon. What towns are you looking to live in?
Thanks! I don't really care if it's luxury, we're college students so we can't afford anything luxurious :P
We would like to live anywhere east of Hempstead and west of Bay Shore. Also don't care if it's North Shore or South Shore. We're not very picky, we just want a safe area and something that won't cost more than 1500 a month.
I lived in Colony Park in Ronkonkoma back in the day. I loved it. It has a pool and tennis court, and it's in a good location for commuting, right between exits 58 and 59. Spacious apts. with a lot of closets. Managed by Heatherwood properties
