Has anyone stayed at or knows of the Econo Lodge in Ronkonkoma.

I am considering staying here and taking the LIRR in from Brentwood (parking seems easier in brentwood) for some reason than Central Islip or Ronkonkoma station perhaps due to the proximity to the airport?

I have a deal through Roomsavers.net for $65 a night Mon-Thurs, $55 on Sun.

Will be staying 3 or 4 nights....Am wondering if anyone has had experience with this hotel? It got good reviews on some of the internet sites, but would like to know for sure before booking.

Thanks!

I can't speak for the hotel. Depending upon the time you will need to take the train, the traffic going to/from Brentwood is probably going to take longer than finding parking at Ronkonkoma. A different question to ask, which I can't answer, would be problems at thes stations with regard to breaking into cars.

Ronkonkoma hasnt been too bad lately during the weekdays. Generally I've seen MTA police and suffolk police in the lots on the south side. Also seen Islip Park Ranger giving out parking tickets. Based on the number of tickets lately (illegial spot, parking in handicap), they are there quite often. That may be enough to deter break ins.

When in doubt you always have the garage at Ronkonkoma which isnt that expensive.
I wouldnt leave my car at Brentwood though.... that lot has lots of spots even during weekdays, but thats probably the sign you dont want.
