Hi! My fiance & I are looking to start a family soon and we're looking to buy a house in a relatively Jewish area with good schools. I work out in Mastic Beach & my fiance works in NYC and takes the LIRR. We previously thought about a place like the Plainview Villas, but we think we can stretch our dollar further into a house. Are these areas all more or less similar? Are there any other areas that I'm missing? I don't want to go too far west on L.I. since I do work all the way out east (exit 68) and my fiance would prefer a ride no longer than an hour and 15 min. or so.
Thanks so much!

I don't know what your budget is, but if you can buy in Plainview, you're generally close enough to the Hicksville train station - plenty of trains to NYC and fairly easy access for you to the highways. Sounds like the best "meet in the middle" location for your situation.

And the Plainview JCC is great!!

I like Massapequa(schools are excellent). Good commute.
Id probably stay on the S Shore near sunrise for your commute.

I would add Babylon Village to that list as well.

Long Island - Babylon Village Churches (http://www.babylonvillage.com/11702/churches.html - broken link)

Beth Shalom is there.

If a Jewish community is the #1 priority then maybe Plainview or Massapequa is probably a better bet.

Babylon would split the difference commute wise. Not sure about the Jewish population there.
I just know theres a temple in BV.

Thanks. Out of curiosity, why the preference to Wantagh over Massapequa?
