hi,

I posted this already, but I posted it in the wrong spot so if it happens to look familar that is why (again big thanks to you that helped me out).

My family and I might be moving to Jacksonville and just wanted to ask how heavy the asian population is in the Jacksonville, Conway, Little Rock area. WE are both white, but have an asian granddaughter that will be living with us. And we want to try and have a comfort zone for her, to better her transition into a predominantly non asian society. So basically...where is the asian part of town? It sounds bad me saying it like that. But I figured beating around the bush wouldn't get us anywhere.

Mostly in Jacksonville since that is where we will be living, but I figured knowing the surrounding areas couldn't hurt either, since I take it Jacksonville is still pretty small. Thanks in advance!

Just to repost my comment from the original post for those that are searching in the LR-NLR-Conway Metro subforum...

Most parts of Greater Little Rock are quite open-minded, and school-age children around here don't even think about ethnicity when choosing friends, so your granddaughter will be fine in that aspect. Largely due to the air force base in Jacksonville, there is a significant Asian population there and there are several Asian protestant churches in Jacksonville and Sherwood. The only thing that concerns me with Jacksonville are the schools - although it is in the Pulaski County (Special) School District, most schools in Jacksonville are physically worn, and test schools are horrible at some of Jacksonville's schools, which is why so many parents opt to have their kids to attend either one of the magnet schools or a charter school. You definetly have to do your research when choosing schools, but other than that, she will be just fine in the area.
