I'm contemplating moving to the Nazareth/Bushkill area and would much appreciate any input from those of you who make the trip to Morris County everyday. What is the best route you've found in terms of traffic flow, etc. I would love to hear from anyone who leaves around 5:30a.m. since that's the time I anticipate making the drive. Is Route 78 a nightmare on the way home around 6:00pm? I've been told that Route 57 is a great alternate road but it seems too long. It comes up as 1 hour and 45 minutes on Mapquest.

Thanks in advance to those who choose to reply.

I see no one answered your post yet but anyway here is my take - I just moved to Bethlehem from NJ and telecommute three days and drive to NJ twice a week - I leave home (Bethlehem) around 6.45am and I get to NJ (Edison) by 7.30am or 7.45am depending on how 22 and 287 gets backed up.

I stay in the office to about 6.30pm on those two days and head out on 287 to 78 - now here is the bad part...there have been instances where its taken a little longer about an hour and a half to get home due to traffic on 287 or sometimes on certain parts of 78 (NJ section), road constructions and accidents sometimes get some lanes blocked as well.

I will not advise driving on 78 between 4.30pm to 6.00pm since there will be a lot more traffic maybe I might be wrong.

However leaving around 5.30am should get you to Morris County smoothly with no traffic...you could try 6.00am or 6.30am as well depending on what time you need to get to work.

Good Luck on your move

Thanks for your response, DaSkorpion. I am expecting about 1.5 hours on the way home and I probably wouldn't get on 78 until 6:00 pm anyway.

I'm hoping that with more folks back from vacation, I can get additional feedback on this issue. Thanks

I know about 4 people who head this way into Morris Cty. From Fork, Bushkill area to Morristown, or in the general area.
The usual commute hours are difficult. Especially if there is an accident along the way.
The people who don't mind the ride are ones who leave in the early, early, AM and return home by 3PM.
If it is any option for you to do that, then you might not mind the ride as much. Even if an option is to leave late, you should be saved from the huge traffic flow.
I know that the wonderful homes and home prices in the area, probably make it worth the traffic issues.
The time frame leaving later in the morning is about one hour to Morristown.
If you could possiably leave later in the morning and work later in the evening, the trip would be not all that bad.
