I am wondering what Vegas teens do to stay out of trouble. We are considering a move to Henderson (have a good job prospect), and wonder if living near sin city is a good idea when trying to raise a family...I expect to raise my children right in the home, but teens spend much time outside the home...Should I be concerned?

My friend's teens play sports, take dance classes, join school clubs, play video games, do church and family activities.

Teens here do the same thing teens do in other cities both good and bad. The parents have a major impact on what their kids will do outside the house. By rising them right at home they will be able to handle themselves properly outside the home.

I am raising a teenage son here with no problem.

I dont see LV being any different for a teen than anywhere else. They cant go to the casinos, they cant drink/gamble legally, etc.

They're going to party at your house when you're gone, hang out with friends, drink, drive too fast, play video games, be slobs, and spend way too much time texting just like anywhere else.

By asking that question you are just plain insulting us with your innuendo that Las Vegas is a "bad" place. And what makes you think living in Henderson is "living near sin city"? It's all one big city/metro area that includes Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas, plus the unincorporated area we refer to as "the county".

To answer your insulting question I'll put it this way. I was raising my kid here pretty well when I got the idea he would benefit from learning about small town life. I sent him to spend a summer with relatives in my home town in West Virginia, where, when I left in 1964, it was scandalous to even know someone who smoked grass. Guess what he learned to do there?

Kids are no worse off growing up in Las Vegas than anywhere else. In fact, they have advantages here they won't get anywhere else. By the way, you will too if you move here. But I wouldn't go around making those dumb accusations when you come here lest you are taught some manners the hard way.

By the way, this same dumb question has been the subject of several threads here so you might try doing a search.

Buzz, it seems that you are a very reputable poster, but no need to be so harsh. I don't think the OP meant to be offending. More like, a lot of people outside vegas who have never lived their or frequently visited only know what the hype is. And that is that its a place for adults to let loose and go wild.

I see it as an honest question

Well, I see it as offensive. Are you a Las Vegan?

If I knew where she was from do you suppose she'd be mad if I ask such a negative stereotypical question about her town?

Clark County has a curfew for teens, both on and off the Strip.

Kids here do the same thing that teens in any other city, in any other state do...

The only thing for teens (under 18) that is different about Las Vegas (and all of Clark County) is that WE have a curfew and most other places don't

This is a county-wide curfew for people 18 years old and under:

•10 PM - 5 AM, Sunday-Thursday
•12 AM - 5 AM, Weekends

The curfew on the Las Vegas Strip is year-round:

•10 PM - 5 AM, Sunday-Thursday
•9 PM - 5 AM, Weekends
