Would someone please tell me how easy it is for a single mother to get section 8? Many thanks.
(I'm not interested in a political discussion, just would like to know in order to rent to them)

not opening a can of worms here, but you'll be back on the forum asking what to do when the property is destroyed. if you weren't paying for your living area (govt paying), would you care about it?

Default It's administered locally

From the HUD fact sheet:
[SIZE=2]Housing choice vouchers are administered locally by public housing agencies(PHAs). The PHAs receive federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to administer the voucher program.

I don't know if the local housing agency is easy handing out the vouchers or not. I know that they are easy in California.

Section 8 vouchers are given out in a lottery that lasts a few days every few years. I think the last one was in 2007. Could have been one more recently.

I would be surprised if they are readily available in CA..but who knows.

I've always found it odd that Section 8 in the Army means "crazy as a bedbug" and Section 8 elsewhere means "rent subsidy."
