But IMO, The Orleans is no dive...but rather, one of the best deals in LV.
It seems like a nice property and it has a shuttle to the strip.

Love The Orleans. I stayed there many times before I bought a place down there.

You will be rushing to see so many places in such a short time but if you wish to see the parks in Vegas, I suggest to see Red Rock Canyon in the morning and do the scenic loop. Mornings at Red Rock Canyon, the sun is shining on the jagged cliffs while later in the day the sun is behind the jagged cliffs. You can have breakfast or lunch at Red Rock Resort, after your meal drive on to Valley of Fire. At the Valley of Fire spend some time hiking, lots of photo ops. Drive around Lake Mead to Hoover Dam instead of going back to Interstate 15. If you want to see all three, it's doable, daytime is longer now so you'll be fine. You will have enough time to get ready for your flight back.

Off and On the Vegas Strip]

hi guys! just a quick update.

We finally got there.. AMAZING TRIP!!..
So we got to the airport, around 9 ish rented a car and went strait to Grand Canyon. Arrived around 5 and that gave us PLENTY of time to take photos and see landscape and all. We left at 7 ish and lucky for us there was not many people arround. In my opinion if you are not very fond of walking to much or have not planned other excursion being there for 2-3 hours is enough. So we left to find a hotel. That was the hardest part because ALL hotels were booked and prices went up like crazy due to bank holiday monday. So we decided to drive to Vegas and in between stay in a hotel.
As you drive from Vegas to Grand Canyon you see signals of Historic Route 66 in paralel so we decided that on our way back we will sleep in one of those motels... and we did.. it was $29 per night!!! hahaha my lord! but due to holiday price went up to 59. Still on budget.
The following morning we drove on route 66 (beautiful!!) and stoped at Selingham! nice nice nice place, loads of memorabilia of route 66.. took a lot of pictures. We continued driving and stoped again at Hoover Dam. Stayed there for almost 1 hour.. took pics.. laughed, chilled... etc.. and around 6 we drove to Vegas to the hotel.

The hotel (El Cortez: affordable, clean in downtown) we have to choose this one because two female friends came with us on tight tight budget. It was clean and nice and had the cheapest roulette in all Vegas ($ 0.25 per bet) so with $20 we played for hours until we went to sleet at 5 ish
We woke up and saw ALLLLL VEGAS all hotels.. etc.. we had buffe at Golden Nugget (average) and Paris later and some other. The cool thing is that you can park your car for free in almost every casino so thats what we didd for the water thingy at Belaggios. We drank, gambled etc.. and obviously looked for the "welcome to Vegas" sign. We have a really cool pic!!

On monday our friends had to leave early in the morning and we in the evening so we had almost a whole day.. and we decided (we knew already) to go to Valley of fire... a neat place to take pics and just chill an hour away from Vegas. And we did. We came back several hours after and we gambled at hotel for a bit and left to the airport.

Overall I can say it was an AMAZING trip. We did lots of things, I wasnt too tired even though I got to houston at 7 am and straight to work at 8 We are coming back for sure my girlfriend and I and next time alone.. just to chill, gamble and well...

Wow!! Sounds like you had very busy and memorable trip! Glad you enjoyed your stay! Had no idea the El Cortez had $0.25 roulette...probably because I spent more time at the lobby bar having cocktails with my girlfriends for happy hour! lol I'll have to check that out sometime. Glad you made it to the Grand Canyon and to Valley of Fire. VOF is a really cool place, especially when we go camping there and wake up to those beautiful rock formations in the morning with the sun peaking over top of them. Absolutely stunning.
