I hope that is current info since I just received that e-mail today. I'll be back in Vegas in two weeks. If I have time I'll try to get to the DMV.

I have never spent more than 60 minutes at the DMV over the last five years, why would you get stuck there for 3 hours unless you were doing multiple things? My usual strategy is to go on Wed or Thu and go around 2pm to beat the rush when teens come after school to take their tests.

Good morning,

You may obtain a seasonal ID if you meet the requirements below: A Seasonal Resident is someone who is not a resident as defined in NRS 483.141 and who temporarily reside In the state for a period of at least 31 consecutive days in each calendar year, maintains a temporary residence in this state, returns to the state or jurisdiction of his residence at least one time during each calendar year, and is registered to vote or pays income tax in another state or jurisdiction. You are not allowed to work in the state of Nevada.
You will need to bring in the following documents:
Certified copy of your Birth Certificate, US Passport
Out of state driver’s license
Social security card
You will need two documents to show proof of Nevada Residency. You may use this link http://www.dmvnv.com/pdfforms/dmv004.pdf to see the acceptable documents to show proof of residency.
The fee is $12.00.
I finally went down and got my seasonal ID last week. I got to the DMV 20 minutes before they opened and there was probably 200 people waiting in line. It took about 2 hours to get out the door. All they asked for was my drivers license, birth certificate and social security card. They didn't even ask me to prove I lived there. Nothing to prove the address I gave them was mine. Maybe they looked at county records to verify.

They will not give you the ID. They mail it to your out of state address.

I found that interesting as well.

Even as a full-time resident, I have to wait and have my DL mailed to me. What bureaucratic nonsense. Every state I've lived in in the past 30 years has provided your new license to you immediately.

And speaking of bureaucratic nonsense, even though my car title, registration and insurance card all identify the car's VIN, I still had to drive my car to a separate little building next to the DMV's parking lot for someone to personally check the VIN on the car, and then take that little piece of paper back into the main DMV building to show to the clerk along with all the other documents. Utter nonsense.

They didn't ask me for any proof of residency either. I went armed with tax bills and utility bills and they didn't look at any of it. I received my ID in the mail about a week after I applied.

I took a big pile of papers with me so I would have every base covered. I didn't want to have to go back again. I had already driven by twice and left due to the line length. I don't mind that they didn't ask as long as I got my ID.

I went to the DMV back in March to transfer my NY license over to a Nevada one.

My wife and I were the very first people there.
We pulled into the lot at exactly 4:30 AM.
By 6:30 there were almost 20 people there.
When they opened there were AT LEAST 100 people behind us.
We were in and out in less than 45 mins.
When we walked out there were EASILY 150 people on line.
Do yourself a favor and set your alarm and just go in the early hours while it's still dark out.
Lines stink---
Don't get stuck--wake up and GO E A R L Y !

I go in 20 minuets before the DMV closes and get the call ticket. The DMV staff will not go home before everyone has be helped. They will hustle to get yourself out by 5:30 so they can go home.

Ummm...if you got there at 4:30 a.m. and spent 45 minutes in there after they opened at 8:00, then you spent over 4 hours at the DMV. How is that better than just going in the middle of the day and waiting in line, but getting in and out in 3 hours or so?

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. I have only once had to wait just over 3 hours. The rest of the time I am usually in and out with in and hour to hour and a half.

I guess if you work a job where you work Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm, just show up late. But even at that, why not just go on a Saturday.
