ONE TIME....just one friggin time I would love to see the LaLa Times write an article that wasn't slanted against Las Vegas and sensationalized....yes Home values went down....yes people are asking for tax rate reduction....[it's already happened]

NO we aren't begging....

Those two look pretty happy for not being able to pay their taxes...and for burning all their living room furniture in that wood stove! Those kitchen cabinets are probably next!

I want to move to Vegas this year. I am hoping for lower home values, and lower property taxes. My home is in El Paso, TX right now, and homes are less expensive in almost every other city in Texas. Property taxes are high everywhere in Texas though. From looking at realtor.com, it appears prices in Vegas right now, are at least as reasonable as San Antonio. However, property taxes are about half as much in Vegas as they are ANYWHERE in Texas.

Hi SGTM7,

Looking at realtor.com and zillow, to some extent, will give you an idea of what's out there, but we found out that 80+% of the houses on the two sites are contingent or pending and unfortunately neither site lists the 'status' of the property.

To really know what's available we had our realtor set up an MLS search based on our criteria. There may be other ways to get the info, but it's the route we went.

Good luck on your house hunting!

Lisa

How can that couple be "under water" when they paid $180K 7 years ago and the assessed value is now $177K?
Even with 0 down and interest only, they only lost $3K! Boo-Hoo.
