Which health insurances are available in Nevada. In California we have Kaiser for those of us under 65, and SCAN for my parents. I don't think either of those are available in Nevada. Which insurances do you recommend. Also, which area hospitals are the best. Thanks!

Okay well actually I have Blue Cross of California, (now i think it's Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield) and I've used it for 4 years here in Northern Nevada. They keep telling me to switch to Anthem in Nevada, but i guess im just lazy (only in that department cause why would i change when they keep accepting it!!) Anyways... Anthem has been good to me, and when i did look at Nevada's website, it looked like the coverages were pretty much the same... can't comment on the hospitals as I do not currently live in Southern Nevada. Good luck!

I got a quote from BlueCross--it was sky high, without existing conditions.

Go here: Nevada Individual and Family Health Plans, and type in the ages of everyone who needs coverage. You should get 100+ plans.

Last time this question was asked, several people responded that they have coverage from Anthem/Tonik. Tonik is a brand of Anthem, and includes dental and eye benefits (mainly exams) in addition to medical coverage.

Is there even such thing as an individual plan that has decent dental and vision coverage? I've only seen them in group plans.

Probably not. Tonik I think covers $50 max for vision, that wont even pay for an exam. They raised our rate $20-30 p/month also.

I was covered with them before my husband changed jobs. I called to get an individual quote & they told me *if* they would even cover me I would be paying no less $700 per month-I do have a pre- existing condition though, nothing major-they think so obviously.

If you are looking for an individual plan (not through work) that includes maternity, Health Plan of Nevada is the only choice I was able to find, and it was REALLY expensive.

Thanks for the info you guys! I'll check out those plans! It would be individual, not through work. Right now we pay over $800 a month for Kaiser. It went up from $630 in December because I hit the big 4-0
