My wife and I are considering a move to Henderson. We have about 80K and would like to buy a home out right and then save for retirement (10 years), selling the property at that time, we are in our early 50s. The only area we seem to be able to afford a home in is in the 89015 zip code. We've been to Henderson a few times and lived in Pahrump in from 2007-8 but are not familiar with this neighborhood. We believe to be old Las Vegas however, and we like some of these older homes quite a bit. My question is, sense this zip code seems to be a "mostly" safe area at this time, with just a few scatterings of crime, how do you envision it to be in say 5-10 years time? We wouldn't want to end up living in an area overrun by crime/drugs. Thank you for your help.

89015 is about 2.5 times as high a crime rate as the more expensive areas of Henderson. Note though that the overall crime rate in Henderson is much lower than that of metro. So 89015 is likely on par for the Vegas Valley. It is however more than double say Green Valley Ranch.
